And this theme park to-go order has to be seen to be believed. We love eating our way through Dollywood, from the homemade kettle corn to the just-pulled taffy to that famous ooey, gooey Cinnamon Bread. But this lesser-known baked good might be even better. Unlike other theme parks, Dollywood's restaurants and menus are inspired by Dolly Parton’s favorite eats. And Dolly loves to cook. Her scrambled egg trick is mind-blowing. Her family’s walnut pie gives pecan a run for its money. And we can’t get enough of Dolly’s new baking mixes. Of course, diehard Dolly fans know she loves to bake best, especially “bread and cookiеs and pies and cake.” And while you can find all of these at Dollywood, you have to try the apple pie. Located at Spotlight Bakery in the front Showstreet area of the park, you’ll find the 25-Pound Apple Pie. This mega treat was introduced in 2010 to celebrate Dollywood’s 25th anniversary. The made-fresh-daily pie requires about 50 apples to make and was such a hit, it’s stayed on the menu ever since. One slice alone—which costs $18.99!—serves four people. But a whole pie will set you back nearly $200. However, it does serve 32 people. And if you order the entire pie, you also get to take home the 17-inch Lodge cast iron skillet (because of course Dolly uses Lodge) it was made in to get the crust so perfectly flaky. Can’t make it to Dollywood this summer? You can call the park and order a pie for shipping. It would be the perfect showstopper dessert for a summer cookout, family reunion, or wedding reception if you don’t like cake. But if you don’t want to pay for shipping, take a crack at this massive pie yourself because we’ve got the oversized recipe! The bakers at Dollywood were kind enough to share all the secrets with Allrecipes so you can make the exact same pie at home. Dollywood’s 25-Pound Apple Pie Ingredients: Filling: 20 pounds sliced granny smith apples (40 to 50 apples) 3 cups light brown sugar 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 pound salted butter, melted 1 cup white sugar 6 tablespoon ground cinnamon Crust: 7 (12-ounce) sheets of puff pastry dough (store-bought or favorite recipe) 1 large egg cooking spray Necessary Cookware: 17-inch cast iron skillet Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Peel and slice apples and place them on a baking sheet. Bake apples in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the crust: Spray a cast iron skillet with cooking spray. Line the bottom and sides of the skillet with 4 pieces of puff pastry, layering as needed to completely cover the skillet. Make the filling: Mix brown sugar, flour, melted butter, white sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Thoroughly coat cooked apples with mixture and scoop into the prepared skillet. Cut remaining 3 sheets of puff pastry into 16 strips. Lattice the top of the pie with pastry strips, you should have rows of 8 in both directions. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. After the first 45 minutes, egg wash the top of the pie and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Cover the pie with foil and bake for another 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to rest before cutting and serving (preferably overnight). Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
