Ice cream can sometimes take some pretty savory turns in recent years, from garlic to bacon, and it often works out quite deliciously. But the latest ice cream innovation is quite a head-scratcher.
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is undeniably a classic, and there's many people who count mac and cheese among their favorite foods. But whether you love your mac and cheese in classic form, baked into a cheeseburger casserole, or perhaps fried into a ball, you probably have never considered it as a chilled dessert. Until now, that is.

Just in time for National Ice Cream Day (which is Sunday, July 18 in case you didn't know), Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is launching a limited-edition ice cream in partnership with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. This ice cream incorporates the actual cheese mix found in the classic Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, along with ice cream classics like cream, milk, and sugar. It's simultaneously enticing and … a little odd to imagine. But so was the pink, candy-flavored Mac & Cheese they released at the beginning of the year. You can't say Kraft isn't creative.
This ice cream will be available online for order on vanleeuwenicecream.com while supplies last for $12 for a pint starting at 11am ET on July 14, as well as Van Leeuwen stores nationwide. Those in New York City will also have access to a free taste from an ice cream truck parked in Union Square on July 14.
