Papa John's Is Reviving Their Double Cheeseburger Pizza

If there's any one category of food that's thrived amid these strange times, it's probably pizza. Already designed with delivery in mind, the frightening, boring early days of the pandemic was a boon for big pizza companies, who were there to fill the void in our stomachs and our souls.

Perhaps emboldened by rising sales numbers over the course of the year, Papa John's seems to have decided that now would be the perfect time to bring back their Double Cheeseburger Pizza. Why? Because the people demand to eat pizzas that are also cheeseburgers.

Truly, it's exactly what it sounds like, down to the toppings and condiments that don't at all feel like they belong atop Italy's finest culinary export. According to a press release, that means a "huge portion of seasoned beef," an unspecified type of cheese, zesty burger sauce, and, believe it or not, pickles.

Perhaps in an effort to outdo Domino's, who recently put out a burger-themed pizza of their own, Papa John's has also decided that the world needs a Double Cheeseburger Papadia as well. Essentially a cheeseburger-inspired flatbread, this particular Papadia comes with a quarter pound of beef, pickles, and melted cheese. It's also served with "Papa John's signature burger dipping sauce" which is a bit of a weird thing for a pizza restaurant to have if I'm being completely honest.

Both the Double Cheeseburger Pizza and Papadia will be available at Papa John's locations all over the country beginning on October 26th. However, those fortunate enough to count themselves among the ranks of Papa Rewards members will get first dibs, as both items will be exclusively available to them from October 19th through 25th. Maybe they'll even tell those lucky few what exactly makes it a Double Cheeseburger Pizza as opposed to a regular cheeseburger pizza. Now that would be a reward.
