If you, like me, walk around with the "Whopper, Whopper, Whopper, Whopper" jingle stuck in your head most days, I've got good and bad news. The bad news is that today is going to be one of those days. The good news is that it's for good reason: Burger King quietly added a new Whopper to its menu, and I mean quietly. So quietly, in fact, that we only found out because a BK employee leaked a photo from their location claiming the burger is hitting menus nationwide as soon as this week. Here's what you need to know about the new Whopper.
Burger King Introduces New Candied Bacon Whopper
We first heard about this on the food news Instagram account markie_devo. His post shows a promotional photo of the new sandwich, the Candied Bacon Whopper, claiming it was leaked by a BK employee. According to the photo, the burger features one of BK's signature flame-grilled patties, candied bacon, crispy onions, garlic aioli, and sweet bacon jam.
The last time we got a new Whopper on the menu was last fall with the return of the Ghost Pepper Whopper for Halloween, so we're overdue for a new burger. And while the new BK Melts are good and all, nothing hits quite like a Whopper (Whopper, Whopper, Whopper). What's more, the Candied Bacon Whopper sounds like a thing of beauty.
Anyone familiar with Burger King knows that the best part of its burger is the smoky flavor of the flame-grilled patty. Playing up that smokiness with bacon (two ways, no less) and then adding some sweetness to the mix will make for a pretty irresistible sandwich. And we can safely say we've never had a sandwich that wasn't made better by adding crispy fried onions and garlic aioli. So yeah, we're excited to try this one. But when is it coming to BK locations?
Since this news was a leak, it's hard to say when it will hit menus and for how long. If you believe Markie Devo's post, the new Whopper will start to be available at Burger King restaurants as early as this week. However, one commenter wrote, "Just got an email about a new BK drop on 2/5 wonder if it's the same thing," leading us to believe it may officially be available nationwide starting Feb. 5.
If this turns out to be a limited-time addition to the menu, you should go and try it while you have the chance. Quick, someone tell Travis Kelce that we just found his new favorite fast-food burger!
