butterfinger
Butterfinger has been around for 100 years and throughout the decades, the brand has seen plenty of changes. It switched ownership multiple times, underwent a recipe reformulation, and launched a range of products, including Butterfinger Crisp bars, Butterfinger BB’s, peanut butter cups, and even baking bits so you can make Butterfinger cookies or cake without the hassle of chopping.
Now, six years after Ferrero took ownership of Butterfinger, the confectionery company is switching things up by launching a new flavor of the classic candy bar.
Butterfinger's New Salted Caramel Bar
The Salted Caramel Butterfinger is expected to debut in April 2025. According to Ferrero, it’s the first time in a decade since the bars have seen innovation. The new Butterfingers will have the same peanut butter taste fans love, but rather than a chocolate outer layer, the bar will be covered in a caramel-flavored coating.
In an Instagram post, @snackolator shared a photo of the candy’s packaging with the caption, “This is 100% real and I need a case immediately."
Fans of the candy quickly took to the comment section to voice their excitement. “I LOVE salted caramel and I LOVE Butterfingers, so I can't wait to try it!! Sounds like a perfect match!!," one person wrote.
Another fan added, “Oh, my goodness. Two of my favorite things in one! I love love love Butterfingers period, no explanation, and fight for the right to eat my kid’s [Butterfingers] every Halloween lol. And I love caramel so this just made my whole life special."
But not everyone was happy with the news. Many fans are disappointed that the candy’s recipe changed in 2019 and begged the brand to focus on restoring its nostalgic flavor. “Why not bring back the original Butterfinger bars? The replacement bars for the original bars are so dry and flavorless. That crispety crunch and sweet buttery taste is severely lacking. I tried the new ones and they were terrible. Never tried them again,” said one commenter.
It’s clear that many miss the original formula, but we can only hope that the salted caramel candy bar can win back some of the brand’s disheartened fans. Butterfinger Salted Caramel will be available starting in April, but only for a few months, so be sure to keep an eye out for this limited release.
