Made as is with less italian seasoning. Great. Dont forget to toast french bread slices. BUT we need nightahade free and switched italian to greek dry packet and wow. The lemon is great with it.
Yummy. Very easy recipe. Some of my taste tests it was hard to taste the preserves but it was still good. Did not add icing and it totally doesn't need it. Baked at about 335 instead of 350 for about 14 minutes.
We loved the gravy but felt the meatballs were lacking a stronger flavor although they were still pretty good. Next time I will add more egg. I did add 1 tsp of all spice and around 1 tsp of cinnamon maybe more, did add rosemary but didn't have much. The gravy we used a brown gravy mix that MUST be doubled. Didn't have any brown sugar so I eyeballed some honey, cinnamon and a bit of dashida(korean beef stock stuff). Served with Penne and stuffing - to hubbys request. Needs to be served with pasta and some veggie with good texture(not soft). Maybe a salad or something. Will definitely make again.
Spices are definitely necessary and I preferred to bake it which took about 40 minutes. Not sure if we'll make this again would probably change the stuffing some how though it gave it good flavor it was missing texture. A reviewer suggested walnuts but no nuts for us.
