OK with tweaks
I wanted to give my family a "tweak" on beef stew, so I tried this French one. Its missing the pearl onions, bacon, mushrooms, and optional tomato paste. Im not a fan of pearl onions , but used extra sauted red onion. I just made a chicken, ranch, and bacon bake last night, so it's ok to skip bacon. Rest of my family hates mushroom, but bet that'd be good. I like the simple ingredients and also mixed it up with few other favorite seasonings. Thanks for this simple recipe!

Worth the effort Easy to follow
I halved the recipe (for just two people.)A little bit of work for a luxurious dinner that’s ready when I get home. Definitely a keeper going into my meal rotation.

OUTSTANDING! I did add a bit more spices and parsley. Endless variations to think of! The cognac is the star and must have ingredient!

After following the recipe to a point we ended up with a nice dish , however i did make some changes to suit our tastes, I added leeks , mushrooms , a beef stock cube and thickened with corn flour before serving - next time I will omit the bay leaves as I found it made things slightly bitter and this needs to be balanced out in my kitchen 😊👍

Very tasty! I made sure there was enough salt added. The recipe makes a lot so I cut it in half. Also I added a couple of green bell peppers.

Made this as is and it is very good. I found diced smoked salmon and was just perfect for two people so I doubled the recipe. Served it with crusty bread and we had a good dinner.
