Helpful (1) Slow Cooker Stuffed Peppers 09/04/2024 A keeper! Easy to follow I used my traditional stuffed peppers recipe but followed the slow-cooker directions and left it on for 8 hours. The difference is instead of fire-roasted tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce and ketchup, I used tomato sauce. Two of the three peppers split apart and did get mushy, as someone else mentioned, so maybe 7 hours will be better next time. My husband loved them, though, since he likes peppers and other things soft. Helpful (2) Raisin Bread I 08/30/2024 A keeper! I didn't have much AP flour in the house so used what I had, 3/4 c., and 2 1/4 c. whole wheat flour. I had everything in the recipe mixed and in the parchment paper in the baking pan but could see it was too dry, so I put it back in the bowl and added 1/3 c. unsweetened applesauce, which made it much better. I reduced the sugar to 1/3 c., increased the cinnamon to 1+ tsp. and added about 1/2 tsp. nutmeg. I used olive oil instead of butter since butter is so expensive. I was also out of milk so I used homemade buttermilk, which worked well. I also put in a heaping cup of raisins. With all of these modifications, it came out great, not dry or crumbly. The comments really saved me, as I think it would have been too dry if I hadn't added the applesauce. For some reason I couldn't get the photo to upload, but it came out looking a lot like the ones here. Helpful (0) Overnight Slow Cooker Bread 07/06/2024 Worth the effort I just took it out of the crockpot to cool so I haven't tasted it yet, but it smells wonderful! After making a lot of traditional bread over the last couple of years, I can't believe how easy this was to make! Helpful (0) Authentic Homemade Yogurt 06/17/2024 A keeper! Easy to follow I was amazed at how easy it was and wondered why I hadn't looked into making it years ago! I had always thought you had to have a yogurt maker or, more recently, an Instant Pot, but this was more economical. The directions were great. I couldn't find or didn't have a food thermometer and took a guess as to when it was about 112 based on my experience with making bread (I didn't take the temp then, either, but judged it to be the right temperature). I didn't include the whipping cream but will do so next time! Helpful (0)
