Peach Cobbler II

Peaches spiced with cinnamon are poured on top of a homemade biscuit dough and baked until bubbly in this classic cobbler.

Ingredients

  • 4 fresh peaches - peeled, pitted, and sliced

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup white sugar/small amount brown sugar added to = the 1cup

  • 1/2 cup shortening

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 cups boiling water

  • 3 tablespoons butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 10x10-inch baking dish.

  2. Stir together peaches with cinnamon and 1 cups sugar/brown sugar and vanilla. Set aside.

  3. In a medium bowl, cream together shortening and 1 cup sugar. Mix in flour, baking powder and salt alternately with milk. Pour into prepared pan. Top with peach mixture. Drop butter in boiling water and pour all over peaches.

  4. Bake in preheated oven 40 to 45 minutes, until golden brown.
