Girl Scouts Discontinued a Cookie That Sold Out Immediately Last Year

It was only here for one season, but made a lasting impression.

The first quarter of the new year marks an important time. It’s a time when you can totally reset, and face new goals head-on with hope and determination to make this year better, or different, or whatever you want it to be. But honestly? I don’t really care about any of that because to me, the new year means one very important thing and one thing only: It’s Girl Scout Cookie Season, baby.

As 2023 winds down, and January quickly approaches (whether you're ready or not), the Girl Scouts of the USA have announced its 2024 cookie lineup, and it's got one notable omission. Apparently, nothing gold (or in this case, raspberry-flavored and chocolate-covered) can stay, and news has spread that a highly sought-after cookie will not be returning in 2024. That's right, the uber-popular Raspberry Rally cookies are getting benched this year.

Girl Scouts of the USA Is Discontinuing Raspberry Rally Cookies

The cookies debuted earlier this year in the 2023 Girl Scouts' lineup. The Raspberry Rally was a spin on the classic Thin Mint cookie, with a crispy, raspberry-flavored cookie coated in dark chocolate. It was even dubbed the “sister” cookie to the fan-favorite Thin Mint.

But what was truly unique about the cookie was the sales strategy. While traditionally all Girl Scouts' cookies are available to purchase in-person, this flavor was the first cookie to launch and sell exclusively online.

All Girl Scout cookie varieties were impacted by supply chain issues last year, but Raspberry Rally cookies became particularly hard to come by. The cookies quickly sold out online, which led some shrewd sellers to list boxes on eBay and resell them at an outrageous markup. While the cookies were undoubtedly a hit with consumers, the Girl Scouts organization was not pleased with the resale game, saying it went against the organization's philanthropic values.

This week, after announcing its 2024 lineup, a representative for the Girl Scouts of the USA confirmed the news of the discontinuation. They told "Today" that despite its popularity, they are “taking a pause [on Raspberry Rallies] this season to prioritize supplying our classic varieties.”

The good news is that all of your other favorite classic cookies are returning, from Samoas to S'mores to Tagalongs and Trefoils. And if you’re still sad about the loss of the Raspberry Rally, fear not. We’ve got a Copycat Raspberry Rallies recipe to fill the cookie-shaped void.
