Jesse is a writer based in Los Angeles who’s worked as a sommelier, a spirits rep, and a bartender, and has years of experience working in some of LA's most celebrated restaurants. He writes mostly about beverages (wine, beer, spirits, and cocktails) as well as bar tools and kitchen gadgets.

  • Jesse's beverage writing has appeared in Liquor.com, Spruce Eats, and Simply Recipes.
  • He's also written for Mutineer Magazine, and he authored the Young Winos of LA blog from 2008 to 2012.

Experience

Jesse has been involved with the food and beverage world for over two decades. Having first worked in restaurants during high school, he became a bartender while in college, during which time he also started a collegiate wine appreciation club. After college, he founded and led The Young Winos, a wine appreciation organization for twenty-somethings in Los Angeles, as well as kicking off his writing career by authoring the organization's blog and contributing pieces to print and online publications. Later, he got his Italian Wine certification and became a sommelier, and over the past ten years, he's worked at some of LA's most celebrated restaurants while simultaneously developing his writing career. He enjoys collecting vintage glassware, traveling in wine country, and scouring old magazines for classic beverage ads.

Education

Jesse graduated from Ithaca College, and he's also a Certified Italian Wine Specialist with the North American Sommelier Association.
