6 Ongoing Recalls You Should Know About This Week

Many of us are cooking (and eating) more than usual this time of year, and consequently, that means we’re spending lots of time at the grocery store. But before you stock up on extra chips for those charcuterie boards or tortillas for your breakfast tacos, check this list of recalls to know about.

Lay’s Classic Potato Chips

Frito-Lay issued a limited recall of 13-ounce bags of its Classic Potato Chips due to undeclared milk in the product. The bags were distributed to stores in Washington and Oregon, so if you purchased an affected bag and have a milk allergy or sensitivity, eating these chips could cause serious illness.

The “Guaranteed Fresh” date on the recalled chips is Feb. 11, 2025. The recalled Classic Potato Chips have the UPC 28400 31041 and both the “Guaranteed Fresh” date of Feb. 11, 2025, and either Manufacturing Code 6462307xx or 6463307xx. 

NuGo Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Dark Chocolate Pretzel Protein Bars

Frito-Lay isn’t the only company that recently had an issue with undeclared dairy in its products. NuGo, a Pennsylvania-based company that manufactures protein bars, issued a voluntary recall on mislabeled products sold in Costco stores.

The recalled 18-count packs of chocolate protein bars were sold from Oct. 2, 2024, through Nov. 20, 2024, in Costco locations in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The bars in the packs are labeled with a "Best By" date of Dec. 22, 2025 or Dec. 23, 2025, and lot number B24235A, B24235B, B24236A or C24236A printed on the box.

NuGo urges customers who are allergic or sensitive to milk to return the recalled packs to their local Costco for a full refund.

Cal Yee’s Snacks

Dairy is just one of the allergens affecting products from California company Cal Yee Farm. The company, which sells under the brand names Cal Yee's, Cal Yee Farm, and Boa Vista Orchards, initiated a recall after FDA inspectors discovered that products containing milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 (the technical name for the food dye Yellow #6), and almonds were distributed in packaging that did not disclose the presence of said allergen

The products were sold online and at stores, and the company says products distributed to Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia,  could have the undeclared allergens.

Stanley Travel Mugs

Planning to cart a hot drink or soup along with you to work this winter? Take heed. According to an alert from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs from the Stanley brand may have faulty lids that can lead to potential burns.

In response to the alert, Stanley has recalled over 2.6 million mugs that may be dangerous if filled with hot liquid. Stanley has already received 91 reports of the recalled travel mugs’ lids detaching during use, resulting in 38 burn injuries thus far.

The colors and sizes affected include white, black, and green, in 12-, 16-, and 20-ounce varieties, with polypropylene lids. The Stanley logo appears on the front and bottom of the mugs. The products were sold from June 2016 through December 2024 at Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Target, and other stores nationwide and online.

MadeGood Granola Bars

According to a FDA report, granola bars from Riverside Natural Foods may contain pieces of metal. The brand voluntarily recalled some of its MadeGood products as a precautionary measure. The products were manufactured between January and November 2024 and distributed throughout the United States and internationally.

Affected bars include Chocolate Chip Granola Bars, Mixed Berry Granola Bars, Strawberry Granola Bars, Cookies & Crème Granola Bars, Chocolate Banana Granola Bars, Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake Granola Bars, Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble Granola Bars, and Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla Granola Bars.

Aldi L'Oven Fresh Keto-Friendly Multiseed Tortilla Wraps

Aldi shoppers who purchased keto-friendly tortilla wraps should check their labels. Rise Baking Company, doing business as The New French Bakery Inc. has issued a voluntary recall for its 6-packs of L'Oven Fresh Keto-Friendly Multiseed Tortilla Wraps due to the possible presence of metal. 

The FDA report outlines the code information on the packages includes tortillas that are labeled as "Best Before" Jan. 11, Jan. 12, and Jan. 20 2025. The affected products were distributed in Aldi stores in Connecticut, Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio, and Texas.
