Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 20 servings

  • ½ cup pitted dates

  • ½ cup pitted prunes

  • 1 cup water

  • ½ cup chopped raisins

  • ½ cup margarine

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Cut dates and prunes into small pieces; place into a medium saucepan. Add water and raisins. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in margarine. Set aside to cool.

  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

  3. Mix together eggs, nuts, and vanilla in a small bowl until well combined; add to cooled fruit mixture. Sift in flour, baking soda, and salt; stir until incorporated. Spread mixture in a 7x11-inch baking dish.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
