Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 4 servings

  • 8 slices French bread

  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened, or as needed

  • 2 medium Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced

  • 1 pound smoked Gouda cheese, shredded

Directions

  1. Heat a griddle over medium-low heat.

  2. Butter bread slices on one side. Place 1/2 of the bread on the hot griddle, buttered-sides down. Add apple slices and shredded Gouda cheese to each slice, then top with remaining bread.

  3. Cook until golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes per side.

Cook's Note:

If you're a lover of bacon, try adding a couple of slices of cooked bacon to your sandwich. Yum!
