New Year's resolutions are always great in theory, but hard to maintain. One that ends up on my own resolutions list year after year is the goal to eat a more filling lunch (as opposed to a mishmash of snacks followed by a 3 p.m. slump that hits like a ton of bricks). While I aspire to prep a reasonably nutritious and filling lunch for myself every day, it happens less often than I like.

Sometimes, the best way for me to make that happen is to grab a sandwich from a quick service chain like Subway. But eating out goes directly against my other resolution: to spend less money on takeout. Luckily, the sandwich chain is offering a deal on subs for the next three weeks that will get me fed during the workday without breaking the bank.

How to Get a Free Footlong at Subway

Now through Jan. 23, Subway is running a buy-one-get-one deal on footlong sub sandwiches. Given that footlong subs can run upwards of $10 depending on your location, that’s quite a deal.

To redeem the BOGO deal, you need to purchase a footlong sub through the subway app or online. Enter the code FLBOGO during checkout, and you’ll be able to get a second footlong of equal or lesser value for free.

The deal can only be applied once per order, and it doesn’t apply to in-store purchases. Additionally, the offer states that it is only valid at participating locations. In the past, customers have been disappointed to realize that even if they had a digital coupon, their Subway location may not recognize or honor it. However, at the end of December, a leaked Subway memo indicated that all locations must accept these coupons.

That means if you’ve been a victim of the digital coupon bait-and-switch in the past, you might fare a bit better this time. This BOGO deal gives you the perfect opportunity to find out. Thank you Subway, for making my resolutions that much easier to keep.
