Funyuns—the onion-flavored rings you find in the snack aisle amongst the Doritos, Utz Pretzels, and dozens of other potato chips brands—just teamed up with an unexpected partner: Maruchan. If you’re a fan of instant ramen then you’re familiar with Maruchan. It makes the iconic individual packages of noodles that college kids live off of. The two brands have come together to create a snack that will undoubtedly become another dorm favorite, Funyuns x Maruchan Spicy Chicken Ramen Onion Flavored Rings. The snack combines the zesty onion profile of classic Funyuns with the robust savoriness of Maruchan's Hot & Spicy Chicken Flavor Instant Lunch. "This collaboration has shown us that loyal Funyuns fans and loyal Maruchan fans are similar—they both embrace the unexpected and unique," said Tina Mahal, Senior Vice President of Marketing at PepsiCo Foods North America, which makes Funyuns. "We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate them than by creating a bold snack that combines some of their favorite flavors." The new snack will be available nationwide starting August 5 for a limited time. TikToker @jazzy_foodz posted one of the first online reviews of the new snack. She says she got them at a work event where Frito Lay was handing them out. Her opinion? They’re “very flavorful. Absolutely delicious if you love the ramen noodles.” That sounds promising and it's definitely one of the most exciting things to happen in the ramen world since Cup Noodles released its Everything Bagel Ramen With Cream Cheese.
