FDA Announces Recall of Nearly 20,000 Cases of Milk

Colorado-based Horizon Organic Dairy, LLC is recalling 19,688 total cases of milk products due to the "potential for premature product spoilage during shelf life." The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Class II recall notice on Jan. 17, though the original recall date is marked Dec. 13, 2024.

A Class II recall (the second-most severe risk level) indicates "a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

How to Identify the Recalled Horizon Milk Products

The ongoing Horizon recall affects 8-ounce shelf-stale whole milk cartons sold both individually and in 12-packs. They were distributed to retailers in Arizona, California, and Nevada.

While neither the FDA nor Horizon have provided instructions on how to proceed if customers have the recalled products, it is typically advised not to consume them and to return them to the place of purchase, as is stated in one notice from CVS Pharmacy.
