McDonald’s is no exception, as it is currently testing out a change to its original McChicken sandwich in select markets. The original McChicken. McDonald's A Bigger McChicken Sandwich The McChicken sandwich features a crispy coated chicken patty topped with lettuce, its sandwich sauce, and a sesame-topped bun. It calls the sandwich a true classic, but the chain may decide to change up that classic depending on how test markets react. Right now, it’s testing the Grand McChicken in select locations in Nevada and California. It’s the same sandwich, just bigger. According to The Fresno Bee, the Grand McChicken started rolling out to restaurants on August 23. While there’s no official information on how much larger the Grand McChicken is, The Fresno Bee says the bigger version is 550 calories. The original McChicken is 369 calories, according to the McDonald’s website. That’s an increase of 49 percent, so perhaps the Grand is about 50 percent bigger than the original. When fast-food chains change beloved menu items, fans are often unhappy about it. But it’s tough to be upset with McDonald’s for simply making a favorite item bigger. That seems like something McChicken lovers won’t have a problem embracing. Hopefully, the new sandwich will have a successful test run followed by a nationwide release, so we can all decide for ourselves if bigger really is “grander.” Was this page helpful?
