In January, the coffee chain rolled out a new code of conduct that only allows paying customers to lounge in its stores. Then, it introduced a new policy for customers who dine in: If you use a reusable coffee mug or glass, you are now eligible for free refills. While bottomless cups of coffee is always good news, the latest change to Starbucks is less so. The Seattle-based coffee chain just announced it's getting rid of more than 10 beverages from its menus, including an iconic drink that has been on menus for decades. Starbucks Is Discontinuing 13 Drinks Starbucks recently disclosed that beginning March 4, its stores across the nation will be discontinuing nine Frappuccinos and multiple other beverages to "make way for innovation, help reduce wait times, improve quality and consistency, and align with our core identity as a coffee company.” “These items aren’t commonly purchased, can be complex to make, or are like other beverages on our menu,” the statement read. “We’re simplifying our menu to focus on fewer, more popular items, executed with excellence." Unfortunately, my beloved Iced Matcha Lemonade has made the shortlist of drinks getting the boot, and to say I’m sad is an understatement. As a die-hard matcha lover, this drink was always the perfect pick-me-up beverage to accompany me on my errands or while sitting outside in the sun. I’m already making a checklist for the items needed to make a copycat version at home. While the company hopes scaling back will allow it to focus on improving quality, I'm hoping I won't see more of my favorite drinks on the discontinued list in the future. Was this page helpful?
