Even though most fast food menus are perfect as-is, we will never say no to new items. Thankfully, Taco Bell knows its fans are always craving something new, which is why it’s constantly testing new menu items in different parts of the country. Right now, it’s trying out a new version of its beloved Crunchwrap Supreme in select Ohio markets. Taco Bell Testing New Crunchwrap Sliders Customers in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, are currently giving Taco Bell’s Crunchwrap Sliders a test run. The new “fun-sized” sliders are snackable versions of the beloved Crunchwrap Supreme—complete with beef, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and a crunchy mini tostada, plus warm cheese sauce for dipping. In addition to the shrunken version of the classic, Taco Bell is testing new Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders that are made with grilled steak, creamy chipotle sauce, pico de gallo, Cheddar cheese, and a mini tostada served with warm Green Chile Queso sauce. Taco Bell These new snacks are quite different from the Crunchwrap Sliders Taco Bell has served in the past. Mainly, they don’t cost $1 like they did in 2014. Instead, each order comes with two sliders and costs $4.99. Back then, Taco Bell offered Beefy Cheddar, Spicy Chicken, and BLT Crunchwrap Sliders—all made with Fritos chips instead of a tostada. The Beefy Cheddar was similar to today’s test, made with ground beef, nacho cheese sauce, Cheddar cheese, and Fritos. While the Spicy Chicken was made with shredded chicken, creamy chipotle sauce, and Fritos, and the BLT was made with bacon bits, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado ranch, and Fritos. The test is currently taking place at 30 restaurants across the Cleveland and Akron areas—including in Alliance, Amherst, Avon Lake, Brook Park, Canton, Coventry Township, Cuyahoga Falls, East Ashland, East Massillon, Lakewood, Mansfield, Maple Heights, Mentor, Middleburg Heights, Painesville, Parma, Sandusky, Sheffield Village, Streetsboro, Stow, Strongsville, Twinsburg, Uniontown, and Westlake. Check your Taco Bell app or visit your local restaurant to see if they’re participating in the test. We tried the new Crunchwrap Sliders, and here is our honest review. Our Honest Review The first thing we discovered about the market test is that different restaurants are offering different versions of the Crunchwrap Sliders. So, the restaurant we went to was only offering the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders or a customized vegetarian version with black beans. Courtney Kassel “My go-to Crunchwrap Supreme is one with ground beef [so] my only wish is that the Crunchwrap Sliders were available with the option of ground beef rather than just steak,” said Allrecipes editor Courtney Kassel. “However, the black bean one stole my heart, and I can’t wait for these to (hopefully) come nationwide someday.” Kassel describes the sliders as “pocket-sized delights” filled with your favorite Crunchwrap fixings. While she didn’t get to try the ground beef version, one Reddit user has raved about it. “I won’t lie, they’re really good! They stay together much better than a full-sized Crunchwrap and don’t get soggy,” the user wrote. “I’ve gotten them four times this week and plan to continue!” The ground beef version seems to be the fan-favorite, so hopefully, we’ll see it at Taco Bells nationwide soon.
