M&M's New Flavor Is Just What Summer 2021 Needs

We're not too far away from summertime, and this year promises to offer us a greater sense of freedom and mobility than we experienced not even 12 months ago. That calls for a road trip, and hitting the open road means stocking up on the kinds of snacks that can help you power through the seemingly endless miles between destinations.

Now, there's a new edition of M&M's that evokes the tastes of summer with a name that evokes the spirit of the open road (and perhaps speaks to America's infrastructural needs). Specifically, we're talking about Rockin' Nut Road, an edition of M&M's recently spotted and shared by @JunkFoodOnTheGo on Instagram.

As you might have inferred from both the name and the package, this candy takes its cues from rocky road ice cream. That means that in addition to the chocolate you'll already find in any M&M candy, you're getting peanuts and marshmallows in these. One could reasonably assume that the white M&M's here are meant to evoke that marshmallow taste, turning these bags into a more portable version of classic campfire treat, in a way.

Believe it or not, this isn't the first Mars product to carry the "Rockin' Nut Road" moniker. Back in 2008, there was a Rockin' Nut Road Snickers Bar, which combined almonds, caramel, and white chocolate-covered marshmallow nougat into one package.

If you're ready to get on the Rockin' Nut Road again (who came up with that name?), you should find nine-ounce sharing size bags of this particular M&M's edition from places like Albertsons and Shaw's, and presumably other nationwide retailers as time goes on.

So as you hit the road, get ready to start rockin' some nuts. Oh, and I guess marshmallows, too.
