The spinach was grown in New Jersey, but the recalled products were shipped to retailers across seven states. BrightFarms’ spinach is the only product that had positive test results when sampled for Listeria, but because of potential cross-contamination at BrightFarms’ facility, the brand is recalling four additional salad kits made with its Sunny Crunch lettuce. No illnesses have been reported; however, Listeria can cause serious infections in some individuals. While most infected people will experience short-term symptoms, like fever, stiffness, nausea, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria monocytogenes can lead to serious and potentially fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Additionally, it can lead to miscarriage or stillbirths for pregnant individuals. If you are experiencing any symptoms or have questions about Listeria, you should contact your healthcare provider. If you have any questions about the recall, you can contact BrightFarms by phone at 1-866-857-8745 or by email at info@brightfarms.com with the subject line “Recall.” Was this page helpful?
