The recalled products include Brie and Camembert cheeses sold at multiple retailers, including Aldi and Market Basket. The Listeria organism was found at the Lena, Illinois, plant on the processing equipment, so only a select number of cheeses made at that plant are being recalled. The Savencia Cheese recalled Brie and Camembert cheeses were distributed to select regional stores in the U.S. and retailers that sold the cheese are pulling it from shelves now. You can identify the recalled cheese by looking at the UPC number and best-by date. Savencia Cheese is issuing the recall out of an abundance of caution. If you have the recalled cheese, you should not consume it. Instead, throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone can be infected by Listeria and it can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems—it can also lead to miscarriages or stillbirths among pregnant people. A Listeria infection may cause severe headache, stiffness, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. There have been no illnesses reported from consuming the recalled soft cheeses, but if you have any questions regarding Listeria, you can contact your healthcare provider. If you have any questions about the recall, you can contact Savencia Cheese’s customer relations at (800)-322-2743 or sc.customer.service@savencia.com. Was this page helpful?
