Costco Recalls Organic Bone Broth

Both Costco and Whole Foods recently released a recall on broth sold in their stores. Here’s what you need to know.

Costco’s Bone Broth Recall

Costco has issued a recall on its 32-ounce Culinary Treasures Organic Chicken Bone Broth sold over the past year, between Sept. 8, 2022, and Sept. 22, 2023.

No illnesses have been reported from consuming the bone broth, but Costco is urging shoppers to not consume the product if it’s still in their pantry or refrigerator.

“The product may have the potential for non-pathogenic microbial contamination, which may result in product bloating, shortened shelf-life, and potential for early spoilage,” according to a recall letter sent to Costco shoppers.

If you have purchased the affected organic chicken bone broth, discontinue its use and throw it away or return it to your local Costco for a refund.

Whole Foods Broth Recall

No illnesses have been reported from broth sold under Whole Foods’ 365 Brand, but it’s made by the same manufacturer as Costco’s Culinary Treasures brand, TreeHouse Foods. Three 365 organic broth varieties sold between July 24, 2022, and September 21, 2023, have been recalled.
