Hostess Just Combined 2 of Its Fan-Favorite Treats Into One

Let us take you back to an ordinary summer’s day in July 2023, when we were stopped in our tracks over a bizarre Hostess launch. The beloved snack cake brand announced it would be mashing up two of its fan-favorite products to create a new, next-level Hostess treat. Even though nobody really asked for them, obviously the Ding Dongs x Twinkies Mashups were well received, because Hostess is back with yet another mashup. 

You might recall that when Ding Dongs x Twinkies Mashups were released, we suggested a few more fun mashups that we might like to see, like CupCakes x Donettes or HoHos x Snoballs. Unfortunately, Hostess didn’t 100% take our suggestions, but we did get 50% of the mashup correct. This year, Hostess is introducing a brand-new mashup treat: HoneyBun Donettes.

New Hostess HoneyBun Donettes

The newest Hostess treat combines the sweet honey-glazed flavors of a sticky HoneyBun with the fluffy, bite-sized goodness of snackable Donettes. Hostess’ HoneyBun Donettes have a hint of cinnamon flavor in the actual doughnut and are coated with a sweet vanilla glaze.

Unlike Hostess’ Ding Dongs x Twinkies Mashup, which is a Walmart-exclusive product, the HoneyBun Donettes will be available at both grocery and convenience stores nationwide. The mini doughnuts are set to arrive in stores in early March, where they’ll be sold in the standard bagged packaging as well as a single-serve option.

It sounds like Hostess won’t stop at this mashup—so maybe we can guess what’s next. The first mashup featured two snacks, this one features two breakfast treats, so maybe the third will go back to cakes. We’re still pulling for a HoHos x Snoballs treat, but we also wouldn’t be mad about a CupCakes x Baby Bundts mashup. Let’s make it happen, Hostess! 

While we patiently wait for HoneyBun Donettes to start appearing on shelves, there’s still time to grab Hostess’ Valentine’s Day treats before they head to seasonal flavor purgatory for a year. Plus, if you’re lucky, the pink, heart-shaped treats might be marked down on clearance, since we’re past the love-filled holiday and already on to spring and Easter.

Who knows, maybe Hostess will even release some special seasonal mashups to go along with the fun line—only time will tell.
