By Annie Campbell Published on October 25, 2023 Photo: Allrecipes If you’re looking for a crave-worthy creation to bring to the next party, we’ve got a recipe for you with a name (and a taste) nobody will forget: Fruckies. Despite its recent surge in popularity on social media (everything retro is cool again), this five-ingredient treat has been around for decades. In fact, Allrecipes is the home for one of the most popular Fruckies recipes on the internet: Funky Fritos Fruckies. This delectable snack is crunchy, chewy, sweet, and salty all in one bite. “I have yet to bring this anywhere and NOT be hunted down for the recipe,” says Allrecipes member ABOOD. We'll admit, Fritos usually have us thinking more about Fritos chili pie, walking tacos, and even celebrity-favorite sandwiches than dessert, but after you try this sweet treat, you’ll really start to rethink what Fritos can do. This recipe is quick and easy to assemble (with ingredients you probably already have in the pantry), and it’ll easily turn any crowd into Fruckies fanatics. “Yes, they are odd. And yes, people will wonder what is in them, but they are so good. The perfect mixture of sweet and salty,” said another Allrecipes community member. So…what the fruck are fruckies? Are they cookies? Are they candies? As long as you include them on the dessert spread, everybody will stop asking questions. Allrecipes What Are Fruckies? Fruckies are a popular, salty-sweet dessert made with Fritos corn chips, typically mixed with a caramel-peanut butter sauce and topped with melted chocolate or chocolate candies (like M&M’s). They’re kind of like a mix between a chocolate bark, a praline, and a Scotcheroo, but made with crunchy Fritos chips. “Very addicting and scrumptious. Similar to a Rice Krispies treat made with corn syrup, sugar, and peanut butter. I like these better,” raves Allrecipes member RAISINETT. Fruckies are made in a sheet pan and are broken into pieces by hand, so however large or small you want to shape them is totally up to you. They’re perfect for filling goodie bags, gifting at the holidays, or completing any cookie tray. How to Make Funky Fritos Fruckies To make this salty-sweet treat, all you need is five ingredients: corn chips (like Fritos), sugar, light corn syrup, peanut butter, and milk chocolate bars. To start, arrange the corn chips in a single player in a greased sheet pan. In a saucepan, combine the sugar and corn syrup and bring to a boil over medium heat, then remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter until smooth. Pour this over the chips and smooth it out with a spoon or spatula. Place the chocolate bars in a single layer over the hot mixture and wait a few minutes until the resi heat melts them. Then, smooth out the chocolate to form a thin layer. Finally, allow the candy to cool completely, then break it into pieces. There are plenty of ways to customize this recipe, whether you want to add Nutella instead of peanut butter, sub out dark chocolate for milk chocolate, or use a completely different kind of snack chip altogether. You can finish them off with some chopped nuts for even more crunchy texture. Allrecipes member Sharon shared her helpful tips: “Once it hardens I flip the pan onto a cutting board and chop it up into small squares. Always a hit! Remember, how long you let the mixture boil will determine how gooey or hard your pieces will be. In addition, don't skimp on cheap chocolate and peanut butter, it can also make or break the taste.” Get the Recipe: Funky Fritos Fruckies Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback!
