The Best New Costco Food Court Hack, According to Reddit

Back in December, Costco shoppers started hearing the news that the warehouse retailer was swapping out its beloved food court churros for another sweet treat: a massive double chocolate chunk cookie.

Ever since then, there’s been a lot of talk about this cookie with many not on board with the sudden switch—it did take away a staple dessert snack that was sold at just $1.49. But now the swap has been made and the gigantic ultra-buttery cookie has arrived for $2.49.

Reviews have been pretty mixed but some online chatter sparked a little more positive interest thanks to a new food court “hack” that is taking this cookie up a sweet notch. 

Costco’s Food Court Cookie-Ice Cream Hack

A recent Reddit thread says that the “food court cookie trick (is) so good” as it mixes the giant cookie with ice cream to make several sweet creations.

The original post that came from Reddit user TheSaltiestLife says they added the cookie to a hot fudge sundae with others chiming in, agreeing that, "This is the way” and “I just got this and it was outstanding. I waited for a cookie that was just pulled out of the oven. 10/10 would recommend!”

Others explained that they also tried a different version of this so-called hack, saying all you have to do is “Add another cookie for $2.49 then it's an ice cream cookie sandwich.” Many seemed to agree with that trick, too as one other user replied how they, “Tried the cookie today, was pretty good but it was served warm. 100% next time I'm getting 2 and some frozen yogurt and making the ice cream cookie sandwich.”

It’s no secret that some haven’t been huge fans of this new cookie, with lots missing the churro that used to be offered in its place. But some seem to be more excited about trying it now, thanks to this latest technique served with ice cream: “I’m counting down the days until I get back to Costco for that cookie.”

Whether overly decadent or just right, this new Costco food court combo certainly has people talking. From one end of the spectrum, "Too sweet for my taste but you do you," to the other, “Just did this today and it was amazing. I’ll miss the churro but this combo definitely distracted me from that grief.”

And finally, hats off to some of the most comical comments that seem to reference another "monstrous mashup" Costco customers love to hate—"Now stuff it inside a chicken bake" and "Then fold that inside a whole pizza." After this much chatter, maybe Costco will put this cookie and ice cream duo on the actual menu.
