We’re pretty big fans of Costco’s food court, thanks to its delicious offerings and unbeatable low prices. If you're an avid shopper at the big box retailer, you know just what we’re talking about—those $1.50 hot dogs speak for themselves. And Costco is always adding new items to its food court menu to keep things fresh and interesting, like the roast beef sandwich and strawberry soft serve we spotted over the summer.

However, adding new items sometimes means swapping out some old standbys. Remember how we recently reported that Costco may be replacing its beloved food court churros with some kind of cookie? Well, thanks to a tip from a Costco employee, that looks to be the case after all.

Is Costco Adding Chocolate Chip Cookies to Its Food Court Menu?

A Costco employee offered a sneak peek into the latest food court snack in a recent post on Reddit, writing, “Coming soon to [the] food court—Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie $2.49.”

However, many commenters on the thread weren’t that impressed, especially at that price point. One commenter wrote, “They should price it at $1. Would be another happy hit like the hot dog,” while another agreed, chiming in, “$2.49 for something 1/4 the size of the hotdog? Why aren't these 50 cents?” One even considered how these new food court cookies would hold up against those in the Costco bakery section: "I feel like the cookies in bakery are really going to cut into the sales of these. Especially at this price.”

The comments were similar on another Reddit thread about the new cookies, with many upset over the cost. “That's a very expensive cookie,” one wrote. But some are still hopeful that the size will come into play: “I will want to see the size before I judge the price. This is Costco after all, this could easily be like an 8-inch cookie, or bigger.”

The same alleged Costco employee who provided the tip on the first thread weighed in on this one, stating that the cookie is “fairly large” and that the “bakery will bake them and [they] will be purchased by food court [then] finished in oven.” At least it looks like the cookies will (hopefully) be served warm.

There seems to be a divide between Costco customers on whether or not they are excited about the latest sweet treat and if they will actually purchase the new cookies. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how the cookie crumbles (and how they taste).
