Costco Just Discontinued Another Food Court Favorite, and Fans Are in Mourning

Costco’s food court is full of fast food, fueling up shoppers for their shopping trips. Fan favorites include the $1.50 hot dogs with raw onion, pizza, and the double chocolate chunk cookie ice cream sandwich hack. 

There’s nothing like a Costco food court customer scorned, though. When the warehouse store takes away food court favorites, such as the churro that disappeared at the end of last year, fans do not keep quiet about their disappointment. One disgruntled churro fan commented, ”This is going to really suck for our Costco shopping routine.”

The news recently dropped that a popular food court treat will be replaced within the next couple of weeks, and as expected, some fans are in mourning.

Costco's Food Court Replaces Strawberry Ice Cream Cups with Chocolate Ones

According to Instagram’s Costco Insider, who has photos to back up the claim, $1.99 Chocolate Ice Cream Cups will soon replace the current $1.99 Strawberry Ice Cream Cups. 

"Seriously leave the menu alone already, you guy's take away the churro for a big cook(ie). Now you are taking away strawberry for the chocolate why not just have both?” said one frustrated Costco shopper.

The answer to that may be the same as why Wendy’s can’t have more than two Frosty flavors at the same time—the machine can hold just two flavors. At Wendy’s, the machine half that holds the Vanilla Frosty must give way to seasonal flavors. 

At Costco, it seems that the ice cream machine must give up the strawberry flavor—that one fan says tastes like “frozen strawberry Quik”—to make way for the new chocolate flavor, leaving fans lamenting with comments such as “No the strawberry is bomb!” and “Booo I love the strawberry ice cream.”

And one commenter gave Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman” vibes by simply saying, “Big mistake!”

But not everyone is upset. As one person pointed out, “That’s great because I love chocolate so much and I think Chocolate and Vanilla twist ice cream sundae is better than just Vanilla ice cream.”
